Happy Turkey Day

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Whether you made the decision to keep turkey day to 10 or less people or not, I hope you at least ate some great food. This is a holiday I love year after year, but I always celebrate Thanksgiving the same. If you are anything like me, then you make a plate too big for your appetite and then no matter how hard you try, you end up taking a nap at some point. For this post I plan on talking about the games I use when I want to burn some calories at our arcade as well as touch on some deals that might still be available for the holiday season.

VR Games That Make Fat People Skinny

Now let's be honest. The reason why we are all here is because we ate too much and need to get back on track to meet our 2020 weight loss goals. I am going to go through a few games available at my arcade that have seriously helped me shred extra calories. The games can be played no matter how fit you are. The amount of effort you put in is the key to burning calories while you play. Let's get started!

#1 Synth Riders

Synth Riders is a beginner friendly rhythm game. You can start at a lower difficulty to get used to the game, then switch to higher difficulties to increase the intensity you play at. There are a number of modifiers available to make the game to your comfort. The game is also multiplayer, so if you want to bring a partner you guys can play together. The game will have you moving around and swinging your arms all over the place. This is not the first time I will say this, but be ready for your shoulders to be sore after awhile of playing.

#2 QuiVr

This is one of the first VR games I have ever played and to this day it remains one of the best. In this game you fight off hoards of enemies with nothing but a bow. You would not think this game would be as good of a workout as it is, but you move your arms so much that your shoulders will burn and you will break a sweat while playing. The game also doesn't feel like a workout game in any sense, so you won't even notice you are working out. Just like the last game, this game is multiplayer. You can bring a friend with you to play together if you do not want to workout alone.

#3 Creed

Okay, do I even need to explain this one? This game brings you straight into the movie. Pick your favorite fighter and train like Rocky Balboa. There are you can train from a series of training montages, you can play the storyline from the movie, or you can jump straight into a fight. If you are going to play this game, pack a towel because you will need it! Once again this game is multiplayer, so if you wanted to train with someone else, you can fight each other.

#4 Pistol Whip

This is another game that you won't even realize you are working out. Oddly enough your legs will feel this one. Pistol Whip combines music with action as you dodge enemy bullets while trying to shoot your enemies to the beat of a song. By moving around dodging your enemies, after a few songs you will be tired. After an hour you won't feel your legs. I almost didn't make it up my stairs one night after this one. There are a number of modifiers available in this one to make the game to your comfort.

#5 GORN

Alright, GORN is seriously another level of fun. The people that play GORN know that this is one of the best, if not the best, VR games to ever exist. GORN is a ludicrously violent gladiator simulator in which you rip the arms off your enemies and beat them to death with their own appendages. If blood is not your thing, you can make your enemies piñatas and instead of blood you get candy. The game has bosses, endless modes, or custom arenas so you always have another challenge to face. This game has the potential to burn the most calories of all because the difficulty increases the longer you survive. We had a customer play twice a week during winter the year we first opened and they lost 20 pounds in a month doing everything else normal. Crazy!

There are plenty of other experiences available that will allow you to create a workout regimen that meets your demand. Basically any games that have an active tag on them in our game launcher can be a great choice. Pick the games you enjoy and you won't even realize you are working out.

Side Note: If you missed my last post about a 2020 VR Holiday Shopping Guide, I highly recommend giving it a read if VR. In the guide I breakdown what the best headsets to buy right now are. I also touch on different options for purchasing a computer that supports VR.
